Nigerian tourism boss pledges support for women, youth empowerment

By Eric Ojo, The newly appointed Director General of the Nigerian Tourism
Development Corporation (NTDC), Mrs Sally Mbanefo has
expressed her resolve and determination to work with the Nigerian
youths and women.

Mrs Mbanefo assured that she will leverage on her cognate
experience in working with youths all over the country prior to her
appointment, to build a better synergy and strengthen her interest
in women and youth empowerment programmes.

Addressing members of the Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC)
who were at the headquarters of the Corporation in Abuja, to
present an award of “Symbol of Hope and Inspiration to the
Nigerian Youths” to her, the NTDC boss, promised not to let the
youths down and assured them of continued support and
collaborations in the drive towards consolidating on efforts aimed
at youth empowerment.

She congratulated the youths of the Niger Delta region of the
country on the initiative, noting that she was impressed by the
gesture. Speaking earlier, the leader and President-General of the
Council Engr. Godwin Ovuomaraini, explained that the Council
strives to integrate all youths of the region to contribute
meaningfully to the development of the region.

Engr. Ovuomaraini extolled Mrs Mbanefo saying the DG’s profile in
the private sector is impressive underscoring the essence of their
visit which he noted was to motivate her to replicate the feat in
NTDC.

“We are here today to recognize you as a well meaning Niger
Delta personality who has contributed an inestimable quota in the
service of our great country. We see you as a role-model and a
source of inspiration to every Nigerian Youth that through
diligence and hard work, the sky shall only be our stepping point”,
he said.

He further noted that the Niger Delta youths had monitored with
keen interest, her giant strides in her previous portfolios. “While
you committed yourself diligently to the service of humanity, even
in the private sector, maybe you never realized that the eyes of
the Niger Delta youths were watching keenly, but this Award about
to be presented to you will help us relay to you how much your
positive impacts are felt by the Niger Delta Youths across the
Nation”, he further stated.
