Nigerian Player Collapses On Pitch, Dies In Malaysia
Featured, Latest Headlines, Sports News Saturday, June 13th, 2015NIGERIAN defender David Faramola Oniya on Saturday collapsed on the pitch and died after playing a few minutes at a local friendly match in Malaysia.
Oniya, 30, went down about three minutes into the game for T-Team and was pronounced dead at hospital around half-an-hour later, the club`s chief executive told the media.
“There was no hard running and it was a slow tempo match. It`s only a friendly game,”
“The match was called off in the 60th minute when we received a call from the hospital that Oniya had died.” CEO of T-Team stated.
Late Oniya was in his first season with second-tier T-Team and barely touched the ball in the friendly game with Super League side Kelantan in Kota Bharu when he collapsed and pronounced dead in the hospital.
