Nigerian Embassy In Washington Pledges Close Collaboration With NIDOA
Featured, Latest Headlines, U.S./Canada Saturday, August 21st, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Dr Uzoma Emenike, the new Nigerian Ambassador to the U.S., has pledged to collaborate with the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation-Americas (NIDOA) to promote patriotism and cooperation among Nigerians in the U.S.
Emenike made the pledge when NIDOA Board of Trustees and officials, met with her at Nigerian Embassy in Washington, DC.
In a statement by the Chairman of NIDOA, Mr Obed Monago, Emenike said she would advise Nigerian organisations to first register with NIDOA, before seeking support from the Embassy.
She acknowledged many concerns that had been expressed about the services at the Embassy, promising to serve Nigerians better.
She called on the organisation to address the problem of division within the NIDOA family, to see a united organisation that the Embassy could work with.
The envoy asked for a clarification of the NIDOA structure and hierarchy, as specified in the Bylaws and the Trustees obliged her.
She then delegated Mr Peter Edoka, Head Consular, the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation/Diaspora Officer at the Embassy, to work with NIDOA.
In his remarks, Monago assured Emenike that NIDOA would work with the Embassy on any issue of mutual significance and interest.
Monago said the purpose of the meeting was to lay foundation for future interactions between the Embassy and NIDOA.
“Also, to see how NIDOA can best synergize with the Embassy, to map out best ways to harness the full potential of the Nigerian diaspora in the USA,’’ he said. (NAN)
