Nigeria Records Highest Level Of Corruption In The World – Osinbajo

From Agabus Pwanagba, Jos – Less than two weeks to the general elections, Vice Presidential Candidate of the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC), Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has lamented unprecedented level of corruption in the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

Osinbajo made the lamentation Wednesday, during a town hall meeting with Christian Leaders in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

More than 400,000 litres in his words, of oil is stolen every day from the country, noting that Ghana produces and survives on 150,000 litres per day.

General Muhammadu Buhari (rted) bemoaned that, the country has the highest number of poor people, saying 55,000 women died from maternal mortality and 110,000 children died annually from diarrhea and malnutrition.

Osinbajo added that the experience in Osun state where the government spends less than N51 daily to feed a child and N2.64 billon yearly to feed school children has shown that free education was possible in Nigeria, adding that the figure contrasted with N10 billion which he alleged a Minister in Jonathan administration uses yearly to maintain a private jet.

“More than eight percent of Nigerians are not employed. In fact, the poverty level is so perverse that Nigeria has the highest number of poor people.

“When oil was $38 per barrel, Nigeria has external reserve of $62 billion but for the past five years, the price of oil has remained constant at more than $100 per barrel, yet we have a foreign reserve of $32 billion. The difference between these figures is what we have been asking” Osinbajo reiterated.

He maintained that Nigerians were suffering not because of lack of resources or inadequacy of it, but bad governance, adding this was what the APC was coming to change.

Osinbajo urged the electorates not to be deceived by rhetorics that the APC Presidential hopeful, General Buhari (rted) hated Christians or has agenda to Islamize Nigeria.

He called on Plateau people to ensure that the desired change was effected by March, 28th, 2015, by voting the APC, stressing that the salvation of the country lied in effective and honest administration.
