The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe has stated that Nigeria is in war with Boko Haram.
Doyin Okupe said this while responding to questions from Journalists on federal government effort in tackling terrorism in Nigeria.
His words: “Nigeria is in war situation with Boko Haram. We are battling the boko haram sect who have been killing innocent Nigerians since 2009. We must give credit to the military and government for success made so far. The military are using modern military infrastructure and highly skilled personnel in the hot zone.
“You would recall that the insecurity escalated to 12 states in the north in 2009 but Boko haram sect attacks have been limited to Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states. Their attack is no longer daily activities like before. For any successful boko haram attack, military intelligence would have help to stop nine-planned attack.
Okupe noted that terrorism issue in Nigeria is different from attack on World Trade Centre, USA in September 2001.
” The attack on World Trade Centre was a sporadic attack which prompted President George Bush to visit the venue, where he promised Americans that US government will get the culprits and deal with them. President Jonathan can not run to Nyanya, Yobe or Maiduguri to make such statement.” He explained.
He urged Nigerians to support government in her effort to end boko haram insurgency in the country.
