The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has confirmed that a total of 48 Nigerians were deported Wednesday to the country, by the United Kingdom (UK) authorities.
The deportees who were sent back home in connection with various immigration offences, landed through a chartered plane which arrived at the Hajj and Cargo Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos around 8.00am.
NIS Publicist, Mr. Ekpedeme King, confirmed that some of the deportees live in UK with invalid visa.
However, the figure confirmed by the NIS Spokesperson contradicted the one reported by the BBC Wednesday morning. The medium has reported earlier that 500 Nigerians were deported from UK.
