Niger State Deputy Governor Decamps To APC
Featured, Latest Headlines, Nigeria 2015 Election Monday, January 19th, 2015The Niger State Deputy Governor, Ahmed Musa Ibeto has dumped his ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared for the leading opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
The development which was confirmed Monday morning might not be unconnected with Ibeto’s failure to clinch the party’s Governorship ticket, as he did not enjoy the support of his former boss and the State Governor, Babangida Aliyu.
The State PDP gubernatorial ticket was won by Ahmed Nasko, a puppet of the state governor, Babangida Aliyu.
The latest defection marks another setback for the ruling PDP, just as it lost some of its members in the National Assembly (NASS) last week to the opposition APC and Social Democratic Party (SDP).
These defections are coming despite repeated pleas by President Goodluck Jonathan to the aggrieved members to stay back and work for the party.
