Niger East Senatorial: PDP, APC Canvass For Votes Ahead of Saturday’s Reschedule Election

The Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress in Niger state have intensified their efforts to get votes ahead of Saturday’s rescheduled Niger East Senatorial election in some areas.
The two parties are currently doing house to house campaign in areas where election will hold.
It would be recalled that Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) declared the Niger East Senatorial bye election held on Saturday August 30 inconclusive following the cancellation of elections in affected areas due to violence.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Niger, Dr Emmanuel Onucheyo noted that the number of registered voters in affected areas were more than the margin between the first and second candidate on results collated.
According to current election result tally made available by INEC, PDP is leading with 89,640votes followed by APC who polled 84,689 votes, APGA came third with 2099 votes and SDP had 460 votes.
Fresh election would hold in some polling units in six out of nine local government areas in the senatorial district.
