Niger Delta Youths undergo Empowerment training in Israel
Latest Headlines, News Wednesday, June 11th, 2014The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs has sent about 100 youths from the nine states within the region for agricultural training in Israel.
Minister in charge, Architect Darius Dickson Ishaku, explained that the scheme was a fulfillment of the present administration’s in drive to enhance the growth of the agricultural sector, empower the youths and ensure food security.
He tasked the beneficiaries that each of them was expected to train at least 20 other youths in the various fields they studied in Israel when return to the country.
“By the time each of you trained 20 of your peers back home, we will have 2000 skilled farmers in various fields. That will generate jobs and create wealth among the youths and contribute to our national food security,” the Minister disclosed.
African Examiner learnt that the youths will be trained in Kibbuzt, an agricultural cooperative farm in an agricultural belt, outside Tel Aviv.
In Ishaku’s words, the overseas agricultural initiative was a break from the Niger Delta long tradition, where most of the youths chose to specialize only in aquaculture and fish farming.
