The congress of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) scheduled for Abuja today could not hold afterall as the embattled glass house President, Aminu Maigari was quizzed by the security operatives.
Today’s exercise was originally an election, scheduled to hold in Warri and put in place by new helmsman, but was on Sunday changed in an announcement by the Secretary to the Federal Government, Pius Anyim Pius to congress to fix new date for the election proper.
Unconfirmed media reports also indicated Miagari had earlier in the day submitted his resignation letter to the Sports Minister, Tammy Danagogo.
NFF has been enmeshed in power tussle, the latest of which Maigari and his ex-Vice, Mike Umeh hold on to the football house headship. Its secretariat mid last week went on fire, leaving only Secretary’s office, ICT and account departments seriously affected.
