NFF Appeal Committee Annuls Pinnick’s Election As President
Featured, Latest Headlines, Sports News Thursday, December 4th, 2014By IGNATIUS OKPARA – The Nigeria Football Federation NFF Appeals Committee chaired by Okechukwu Ajunwa, has annulled the Sept 30 elections held in Warri, Delta state, which produced Amaju Pinnick as President.
While annulling the election in Abuja, the committee warned Amaju Pinnick not to parade himself as NFF President henceforth pending the conduct of a bye-election.
The Appeals committee chairman also disqualified Felix Anyansi and Sherif Rabiu Inuwa from the board and from the next election till the end of the tenure of board members from their states.
African Examiner Sports reports that the disqualification of Shehu Dikko constituted serious breach of the statutes, electoral guidelines and fundamental rights of the candidate and was the basis for the appeal committee’s harmer.
The Nigeria football governing body NFF, had over the years been enmeshed in several leadership tussle and the country eventually paid a huge price for it, as the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2015 Nations Cup.
African Examiner sports recalls that this is the second time that defending champions fail to qualify for the Nations Cup.
