New TeqBall Sport Unveiled In Enugu
Featured, Latest Headlines, Sports News Thursday, May 6th, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Newly introduced TeqBall sport in Nigeria has been officially unveiled in Enugu state, South-East Nigeria.
African Examiner Sport reports that the game, has its root in Budapest, Hungary.
Speaking yesterday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu during the official unveiling/inauguration of the Association, Commissioner for Youth and Sports in the state, Hon. Manfred Nzekwe, called on sports stakeholders to leverage on the novel gave.
He assured that the state government will continue to support sports development in state including the new game.
According to him, the Ministry of Youth and Sports under his watch will do everything within its power to enhance and reposition the growth of the sports in the state.
Nzekwe, pointed out that the state is synonymous to sports, urging the youths to always take advantage of such opportunity.
In his speech at the event, chairman of Teqball Association in Enugu State, Bar. Amobi Ezeaku said that the ” game first started in Budapest in Hungary, adding that it is today been played in many countries of the world such as; Hungary, Brazil, Spain etc.
Ezeaku who is also the Rangers International FC of Enugu Team Manager, further stated that the State will do its best to be among the contestants in years to come.
He explained that Teqball is a combination of football and table tennis, that is been played with almost every part of the body aside your hands, adding that the game is been played with single or double players as in the game of tennis.
The Association handler said its introduction would go a long way in reducing so much pressure on football, calling on young sports citizens of the state to embrace the game.
Highlight of the ceremony was the display of exhibition of the game by two professional players of Nigeria’s Professional football league, NPFL, who are equally members of the Association.
