New PDP Chairman, Modu Sheriff Promises To Return The Opposition To Power 2019
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Wednesday, February 17th, 2016From the newly appointed National Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff has come a strong assurance that the former ruling party will return to power come 2019.
The former Borno State Governor made the vow Wednesday in his remarks at a thanksgiving service in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, to mark Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s victory at the Supreme Court. The Governor’s election was affirmed by the apex court, over two weeks ago.
The controversial ex-Governor stressed that the struggle to wrestle power from the ruling APC started in the South East Abia State, vowing that the party would be returned to Aso Rock by 2019.
He promised to lead the PDP to the Aso Rock in less than four years’ time. The new PDP Leader indicated when the party put down its master plan, then, the ruling APC “will go back to where they came from”. Nothing, he vowed, would stop the leading opposition which had governed Nigeria for 16 consecutive years from achieving the set goal.
Sheriff added that given the turn out at the venue of the service, it was evident that Governor Ikpeazu’s was the choice of Abians. He added that it was an election that God has destined.
The service was attended by the immediate past acting Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus; Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose; his Akwa Ibom; Delta and Rivers States’ counterparts; Udom Emmanuel; Ifeanyi Okowa and Nyesome Wike respectively.
