NBC Sets to Launch Digital Terrestrial Transmission in Jos

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has chosen Plateau State as the test city for the launch of the digital switchover from analogue to Digital terrestrial transmission.

State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Olivia Dazyam disclosed this while briefing newsmen on Friday.  He revealed “The choice of Jos, Plateau State, as the switchover test city is because of its compactness, accessibility and a fair compliment of Government-owned and privately-owned broadcasting stations.

He stated “Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Jos is the home of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), College”.

Dazyam emphasize: “The essence of the flag-off is to ensure that we go into massive creation of awareness that will not leave our people in doubt as to what the cross over to digital broadcasting entails”.

The State image maker who was accompanied by the Jos NBC Zonal Director and North East Zonal Manager of its digital terrestrial transmission partner – Startimes officials among others added that the digital switchover which officially holds next Monday would flag off sensitization and mobilization campaign.

He hinted that NBC has assured that set-top-boxes would be made available for the citizenry to buy at a regulated cost.
