NASS Crisis: APC Peace Meeting Deadlocked As Lawan Group Asks Oyeigun To Resign
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Monday, June 22nd, 2015Ayodele Afolabi, Abuja – he fence mending meeting conveyed by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, John Odigie Oyegun between the Bukola Saraki and Ahmad Lawan group was deadlocked.
Although the meeting was held behind closed door, African Examiner learnt that none of the two combatants were willing to shift ground.
The Lawan group was said to have insisted that the emergence of Saraki lacked credibility.
Speaking after the meeting which took place in Oyeigun’s residence in Abuja, the spokesman of the Lawan group, Kabiru Marafa asked Oyegun to resign as chairman of APC.
He premised his call on the fact that the chairman failed to speak up to Nigerians that he conveyed the meeting of the ICC which led to the absence of the Lawan group from the inaugural session.
He noted that the 7th Senate did not amend its rules and therefore see no reason why some members were excluded in the election of President of the Senate.
