N26 Million Fraud: Court Grants Fani-Kayode Bail

ABUJA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode
The ex-Minister was recently re-arrested and arraigned by the operatives of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over five counts, including alleged fraudulent act, involving the sum of N26 million.
The sum was allegedly collected from the office of former National Security Adviser, Col Dasuki Sambo (retd).
Fani-Kayode pleaded not guilty to the five counts pressed against him. His Counsel, Mr. Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), after, filed the bail application for the accused, which the anti-graft body Counsel, Mr. Johnson Ojogbane.
After dismissing EFCC Counsel’s opposition to the bail application, Justice John Tsoho, granted Fani-Kayode bail in the sum of N50m with one surety.
Justice Tsoho also ordered the accused to deposit his International passport with the court Registrar while the trial lasts
In contrary to the Judge’s order, Fani-kayode escaped being remanded in prison as he met the bail conditions before leaving the court premises.
The trial proper has been adjourned till December 14, 2016.
