Mutiny: 54 Nigerian Soldiers To Die By Firing Squad

Ayo Balogun – At least, 54 Nigerian soldiers are to die by firing squad “for mutiny, act of cowardice and refusing to fight members of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram.”

The 54 soldiers had been standing trial and were sentenced to death on Wednesday by the Nigeria Army.

However, five other soldiers were acquitted and let off the hook.

The convictions of the soldiers bring to 66 now on the death row.

In September, 12 soldiers were sentenced to death by firing squad for mutiny and attempted murder on their commanding officer in Maiduguri.

Nigerian soldiers have been running away from the battle front, an act that has seen Boko Haram capturing several towns in North East and hoisting their flags.
