Muslims Commence Ramadan Fasting Thursday
Latest Headlines, News Wednesday, June 17th, 2015After the counting of 30 of the 8th Lunar month (Shaban), Muslims in Nigeria and most countries all over the world will tomorrow (Thursday) commence a 29 or 30 days of Ramadan fasting.
Already, some Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia have formally announced that the annual fasting will start Thursday.
Other nations which religious highest authorities have followed suit include: Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen and Palestine.
Similarly, the Nigerian Muslim Leader, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar is expected to announce later in the day (Wednesday) the commencement of the fasting tomorrow.
Ramadan is the 9th of the 12 Lunar months. The one month fasting is the fourth pillar of Islam; a must for every sane, healthy adult Muslim. It begins and ends with sighting of the moon.
