Muslim Group Commiserates With Sultan, Muslims Over Abuja Imam’s Death
Latest Headlines, News Sunday, May 3rd, 2015By Niyi Adeyi – Lagos – The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has commiserated with the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammad Saad Abubakar; the entire Nigerian Muslim community and the Abuja Muslim Jamaah (community) on the demise of the Chief Imam of National Mosque, Abuja, Alhaji Musa Mohammed.
In a statement issued Sunday in Lagos by its Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, MURIC affirmed that the late Cleric who died late Saturday after a brief illness, dedicated his whole life to the service of Almighty Allah, noting that he was a great scholar of Islam who led a simple and ascetic life.
“His death will serve as a lesson to Nigerians on the need to shun materialism and to move closer to the Unseen Creator. His death will definitely leave a yawning lacuna particularly in Abuja Muslim community”.
The group charged Nigerian Muslims to use the occasion of his death to forge greater unity in the Muslim Ummah and promote peaceful coexistence with non-Muslims, while praying Allah to give his family the strength to bear the loss.
