The Enugu state police command says operatives of its criminal investigation Department CID have commenced full scale investigations into the recent alleged murder of one mr. Ogbonna Idoko and his wife victoria Idoko of Okpowo Okpo Enugu Ezike in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu state.
According to the state police public Relations officer, PPRO, Ebere Amarizu, who disclosed this to African Examiner in Enugu Monday, the couple were allegedly murdered inside their room. He said “The alleged incident occured on 7/2/14 in the night, adding that the victims Neck/throat were slashed with sharp object probably a knife.
The command’s spokesman hinted that four suspects have already been arrested in connection with the barbaric act.
Amarizu however, gave the names of those in the police net to include Ikechukwu Ejike, Michael Ezeja, solomon Ugwuanyi and Ifeanyi Nwaiyida all of Okpo community.
He said the Suspects are now helping the police in their investigations.
Meanwhile, the deceased corpses have been deposited at General Hospital Ogurute, in same council area for necessary action.
In a related development, six persons have been arrested by same CID operatives of the state command for their alleged involvement in murder of one Chukwuemeka Ugwa.
The six arrested suspects are Eric Nnebedum, Christopher onyeahzi, christopher Ejeagbasi, Kingsley Ajala, Ifeanyi Ekwusi and Clement Orji
Amarizu, who also made this known to our correspondent Monday, said they are equally helping the police in their investigations in the matter.
He alleged that the suspects conspired and chained the victim at the community’s town hall located at “ubaha awlaw in oji river local Government Area of Enugu state on 8/2/14 where they tortured the victim to death for allegedly stealing the sum of seventy four thousand naira.
The Deceased corpse he said, has been deposited at the General Hospital mortuary oji River for necessary action.
