Mrs Buhari Meets Wives of Heads of Mission

BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Wife of the president mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has pledged to support all initiatives and activities of wives of heads of mission in nigeria aimed at promoting beneficial relationship with their home countries.

Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari made the pledge while hosting the wives of the Heads of Mission to a cocktail Saturday evening at the Presidential Villa Abuja .

She said the roles of the wives of Heads of Mission was very special in every sense with high expectations of promoting social and cultural image of their respective countries which she hold in high esteem to produce result oriented benefits for both countries .

The Wife of the President who lamented on the challenges facing women especially access to health care said that her doors were wide open for any further input in that area and those that could have positive impact on children .

According to her “one of the biggest challenges facing women and children in nigeria is access to health care services ” .

She informed the wives of the Heads of mission that her initiative tagged “future Assured ” was designed to spearhead advocacy for improved health and promotion of health status of the vulnerable but marginalized section of the population .

Mrs Buhari who said she looked forward to another round of meeting with her guests explained that their convergence was to honor them and to interact on issues of mutual benefit to both parties for sustained cordial relationship .

She further said ” as you all come from far away, it comes with many challenges but for those of you who have been in Nigeria for long will agree with me that the hospitality of our people will make you feel at home ” see Nigeria as a second home even after completing your tenure in the country.

Wife of the Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, while welcoming the Wives of the Heads of Mission noted that the world is a global villege as things are happening and felt globally.

She said this was an opportunity provided by Mrs Buhari to intaract with the wives of heads of mission to explore areas of collaboration between Nigeria and their various countries.

Speaking on behalf of other wives of heads of Mission, Mrs Elza Lima, Wife of the Brazilian Ambassador, commended Mrs Buhari for the initiative and said it would strengthen the relationship of their various countries and Host Nigeria .

It is the first time Mrs Buhari is meeting with the wives of Heads of Mission since the inception of the present administration in may last year .

Senior Female officials of Government , legislators and politicians were at the event .
