More Troubles For Blatter As US Probes Corruption Allegations Against His Tenure
Latest Headlines, Sports News Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015By Niyi Adeyi – Resignation from the office by the immediate past FIFA President, Sepp Blatter might not yield him the needed peace after all, as he is currently being investigated by the US officials as part of the inquiry into corruption in the world Football house.
Some US media reported that the US prosecutors, hours after Blatter announced his exit from the office Tuesday, commenced the investigation, while they had since last week launched similar inquiry on seven FIFA officials who were arrested in Switzerland.
The suspects were part of a group of 14, indicted on charges of racketeering and money laundering.
Blatter Tuesday called for another Congress to elect new FIFA head, just as he declared his “mandate does not appear to be supported by everybody.”
