Monarch- Elect Spends N1.5 Million Naira For 300 Students Jamb Registration In Enugu
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Monday, May 24th, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The traditional ruler elect of Ubogidi,/Ozalla proposed autonomous community and Philanthropist, in Nsukka Council Area of Enugu State, High Chief Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, has enrolled 300 students for the next Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) Examination, just as he embarked on repairs of Ugwu-Ajie road devasted in the locality by a terrible erosion for several years.
The road which linked several communities in Edem-Ani community has been in a deplorable condition for several years due to havoc wrecked by gully erosion without any attention, forcing people of the area to undergo difficult journey in accessing the Urban town of the university community to evacuate their agricultural produce among other businesses.
Our Correspondent gathered that the Monarch elect spent the sum of N1.5m for the 300 students in Edem Ani community to procure forms for the 2020/2021 JAMB examinations.
Aside payment of the JAMB fee, the Royal father Elect, had also cleared electricity bills of N500,000 which Amenu Edem village owed Enugu Electricity Disco Company EEDC to have access to light after a long period of power outage in the community
Reacting to the road repairs project, Hon. Dr. Onyiyechi Ozioko councillor representing Edem Ani ward in Nsukka local government council said that the gesture of the traditional ruler elect, has been unequalled in the annals of the communities in Edem-Ani ancient kingdom.
She noted that the ‘Ugwu-Ajie road which the traditional ruler elect embarked upon the repairs to channel water ways and check the erosion menace is a big relief to the people of the council area” adding that the road remained the easiest road to link up communities in Edem-Ani and beyond which was abounded due to pitiable yawning erosion menace.
Hon. Ozioko, expressed gratitude over the timely intervention of the illustrious son of Edem-Ani Chief Asadu who single handedly embarked on the repairs of the road project..
She noted that the repairs of the road project was in synergy with the state government 4 point policy programmes on development, explaining that Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has
Simultaneously constructed rural roads in the three geo political zones to ashphalt ,while many other projects are ongoing across the zones in the state.
She however, appealed to Enugu State Government to temper justice with mercy and grant the proposed Ubogidi/Ozalla community autonomy status for the installation of Chief Asadu as a full-fledged traditional ruler .
The Councillor also urged well meaning indigenes of the community both at home and in diaspora to emulate the developmental strides of the traditional ruler elect, first to share palliatives during the ravaging coronavirus pandemic among others.
Also reacting via a statement, on the Traditional Ruler Elect’s gesture, John Okanyi, who is the Monarch’s (PA) thanked his principal for his good works to the Community, stressing that the free 20 bed space hospital he also built for the entire Edem Ani and pays over N930,000 monthly for the staff salaries will remain ever green in the memory of the people.
He noted that few days ago the traditional ruler elect gave the sum of N500,000 to Edem Technical school for logistics “the traditional ruler elect aka Okenwa Ogadagidi empowered over 10 youths with motorcycles, built and handed over two bungalows to two indigent widows whose mood houses collapsed as a result of rainfall in the area.
“He employed over 100 Enugu state citizens in his establishments” hinting that Chief Asadu recently purchased Carter motorcycles to beef up security network, having earlier donated SUV Jeep for the neighborhood watch and Forest guard of the entire community while a good number of students are on his scholarship payroll in the university.
Okanyi, explained that all the charity works of Okenwa Ogadagidi are verifiable as the ongoing road repairs project of Ugwu-Ajie speaks volume of the hands of the traditional ruler elect,tl equally the bridge of Ubogidi/Ozalla is ongoing for accessiblty for human and vehicular movements.
Quoting the monarch elect, “the gesture of of the development of Edem-Ani Community was in Support of the unprecedented good governance of Enugu State Governor Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi who has transformed the state to an enviable height in terms of security network, prompt payment of workers and retirees salaries, roads network, healthcare, among others.

Also speaking on the Igwe Elect’s magnanimity to his people , Hon. Oziokoja Oziokoja Technical Assistant to Enugu State Governor described the traditional ruler elect as a colosusus going by the innumerable things he has done for the development of Edem-Ani community at large,.
Oziokoja appealed to Enugu State government to consider for approval granting Ubogidi/Ozoalla proposed autonomous community the autonomy status to join other autonomous Communities in the state to be relevant and connected.
