Military Begin Rescue Operations In Insurgents’ Rampaged Communities
Latest Headlines, National News Friday, August 8th, 2014The Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters has announced that its Special Forces are currently conducting counter-terrorism campaign in which they have cleared troubled communities of Delwa, Mustafari, Manga, Wanga and Damboa, North Eastern Nigeria of terrorists.
The operations in the enclaves which have been repeatedly invaded and attacked by the insurgents, according to its Director of Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, began early in the week and meant to restore law and order in the areas as well as apprehend all insurgents who have been terrorizing the localities
In a statement by Major Olukolade late Thursday, the special operation which has started within over 40 hours “has dove-tailed into the mop up phase during which the remnants of insurgents are being cleared from the communities”.
The mop up phase, Olukolade confirmed would also ascertain the casualties as additional efforts he hinted, were being made to ensure the protection of innocent civilians during the exercise.
The troops, defence’s spokesperson indicated also involved in manoeuvres to apprehend terrorists who have been attacking Gwoza and surrounding localities, since Tuesday, which recorded multiple death of civilians.
