MASSOB, IPOB Give Terms Of Peaceful Resolution

By Ignatius Okpara, Enugu
A faction of Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), led by its Director of publicity, Uchenna Madu, and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), spearheaded by detained Nnamdi Kanu, Sunday boycotted a peace meeting convened by the caucus of the apex Igbo body – the Ohaneze Ndigbo in Enugu.
The decision, the groups pointed out was taken owing to the Ohaneze leadership silence on Kanu’s detention, and worldwide Biafra demonstrations as well as protest which has lasted over a month.
A statement signed by Madu and his IPOB counterpart, Emma Powerful, said “another major reason of boycotting the meeting is that some prominent Ohaneze chieftains like Emejuru Okpalukwu, and the Anambra State Chairman of Ohaneze, Chris Eluemuno openly and disgracefully condemned and disowned us”
“They disowned thousands of Biafra agitators, including they (Ohaneze) who always claim that Ndigbo are their children”
“To restore our confidence, trust and faith on Ohaneze Ndigbo, we demand that the Igariwe / Nwogu leadership must officially and publicly disown and counter those negative and damaging statements.
“That Ohaneze leadership should openly admit that we are their children even the detained Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“As Apex Igbo Organization and fathers of Ndigbo, we demand that they should effect Nnamdi Kanu’s release since it is a political matter.
“That Nnamdi Kanu must be present at any negotiations or meeting being made concerning the IPOB.”
