Mare Festival: 9ice, Obesere, Ajasa, Ara, Alariwo, Others on Parade

Popular Hip-Hop act and Gongo Aso crooner, Adigun Abolore popularly known as 9ice, indigenous Rap act, Lord of Ajasa,female talking drummer, Ara, Danny Young and Fuji player, Akande Obesere among other crowd pulling entertainers have been named as some of the acts expected to spice up the 2013 edition of the annual Mare festival in Idanre Ondo state.

Speaking with newsmen in Akure, the State’s Commissioner for Information and Chairman Local Organising Committee of the event, Mr Kayode Akinmade,said the acts will join the state’s cultural ambassadors and some local acts to pep up the festival which has also been designed to honour the late Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in the state, Barrister Deji Falae.

Mentioning some of the ambassadors as Actors Bimbo Oshin, Yemi Blaq, Funsho Adeolu, and Jibola Dabo with King Sunny Ade, Ayanbinrin , Mo’ Abudu and Dupe Umosen, the LOC Chairman said the event where Alariwo of Africa will be the Anchor Person  will begin on Friday the 13th and end on Saturday the 14th of December.

He reported that the entire hilly  Idanre Community  and its environs have been agog following heightened preparations towards the hosting of the festival .

He said Artisans, motorcycle riders and students within the community and its environs have fully mobilized themselves to make the festival a remarkable one as evident in the ancient town during the visit of the members of his local organizing committee to the town last Friday.

Akinmade  explained that local musicians, cultural troupes, and local security outfits would be involved during the festival, adding that colorful T-shirts would be distributed to identified groups in the community.

He noted that the 2013 edition of the annual fiesta would be low-keyed in order to celebrate the Late Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Deji Falae.
