Maku Condemns Bloody Violence At APC Nasarawa N/Assembly Primaries
Latest Headlines, News, Nigeria 2015 Election Sunday, December 7th, 2014Former Information Minister Mr. Labaran Maku has decried the recent killing of four persons in the APC’s primary election into the House of Assembly in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
He made the remarks in Akwanga during the House of Representatives primaries of the PDP.
Mr. Maku said unlike the PDP that conducted its primaries peacefully, APC’s primaries were characterized by violence, which was the manifestation of the disposition of the party.
“We appreciate the PDP as a peaceful party. When PDP held its primaries in Nasarawa State, they were all peaceful. Four persons wee killed in Kokona following the crisis in APC’s primaries. APC is a very violent party and the people of this state have already understood the situation. They are all returning to the PDP because they need peace in this state” he stated.
Mr. Maku said the PDP would soon reverse the situation by returning Nasarawa State to the path of peace when it reclaimed power from the APC in 2015.
On the primaries, the former Information Minister said the exercise was exemplary due to the agreement that saw one of the contestants stepping down for the incumbent member representing the area in the House of Representatives, Mr. David Umbugadu.
He said the agreement was reached after due consultations between the two contestants and the leadership and stakeholders of the PDP in the zone.
Mr. Maku advocated such kinds of agreement in subsequent primaries to enable the PDP to remain united and stronger.
He congratulated Mr. Umbugadu who contested the primaries unopposed and expressed confidence that he would surely win in the general election because of his exceptional performance as a member representing the area in the House of Representatives.
