Maigari Calls For Support For Super Eagles, As Injury Rules Oboabona Out of Brazil

President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFA), Alhaji Aminu Maigari has appealed to Nigerians to get behind the Super Eagles, despite Monday’s scoreless draw with Iran at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Maigari, who expressed optimism that the African champions would make it through to the knock out stage said that the team has learnt their lesson from the game, which has been tagged as the ‘’worst game of the tournament’’ so far.

“I want our people to remain strong behind the team and continue to support the players and technical crew with their prayers. The tournament is just starting, and the team has also seen this match as a wake –up call.”

The NFF boss said that the team would do everything necessary to ensure victory against Bosnia- Herzegovina on Saturday.

“I have spoken with the Head Coach and he knows as well that victory against Bosnia- Herzegovina

“I want our people to remain strong behind the team and continue to support the players and technical crew with their prayers. The tournament is just starting, and the team has also seen this match as a wake –up call.”

‘’It is non –negotiable. The team will do what is necessary to earn the three points and then face with Argentina with courage,” Maigari said.

Meanwhile, defender Godfrey Oboabona’s World Cup adventure may have come to an end, following the report of the scan carried out on the injury he sustained against Iran in the lacklustre Group F opening game in Curitiba last Monday.

African Examiner reliably gathered from the Nigerian camp in Brazil, that the Rizespor of Turkey defender has been ruled for weeks, ending speculations he would be available when the Super Eagles clash with Argentina in their crucial final group match next week.

Nigeria must pick the three maximum points against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday to stand any chance of making it to the knock-out stage.
