Lagos Speaker, Obasa Condoles Osun People Over Ooni’s Death
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Friday, August 14th, 2015The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has sent a message of condolence to the government and people of Osun State over the death of the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse 2.
The late monarch died in a London hospital on Tuesday, 28th July, 2015.
Reacting to the death of the monarch in a chat with journalists in Lagos, Rt. Hon. Obasa described the late Oba Sijuwade as a monarch who always desired the best not only for his people but also for Nigerians in general. “He was a bridge-builder who always want the best for his people and Nigerians in general,” he said.
The Lagos Assembly Speaker also stated that the revered monarch died at a time Nigeria needs him to play a fatherly role in assisting the nation to surmount the various challenges facing it.
“Yes, this is the time the country needs his fatherly role especially as government at all levels march graciously to tackle the various challenges facing it. But the ultimate decision lies with God Almighty and He has decided to take away Ooni at this time, as human, we don’t have the power to question God,” he said.
Rt. Hon. Obasa commiserated with the state Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, government and people of the state over the death of the monarch, praying to God to give the deceased a peaceful rest.
