Lagos Indigbos Receive N20 Million To Endorse Ambode, To Back Buhari Too
Featured, Latest Headlines, Nigeria 2015 Election Thursday, February 19th, 2015The Lagos All Progressive Congress (APC) may have bribed the Eze Indigbos in Lagos with N20 million to endorse its governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode.
The Eze Ndigbos is going to mobilise the Igbo community in Lagos for a rally at the Onikan Stadium early next month where the Igbo community in Lagos will canvass votes for Ambode.
At a meeting held at the Eze Uche Dimgba’s house at Oregun area of Lagos on Wednesday with many of the Eze Indigbos in Lagos attending, Dimgba innocuously disclosed that the APC gave them N20 million to hold a rally in support of Ambode and that the Igbos would surely support his candidacy.
Dimgba said insinuations that the Lagos Igbo community has endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje was a ruse and fabricated and that the Igbos never endorsed Agbaje.
He denounced the report in the media that the Igbos have endorsed Agbaje, saying that the endorsement does not represent the wish of the Igbo community.
According to Dimgba, the Eze Ndigbos have agreed to support Ambode and will be holding a rally to formally endorse him at the Onikan Stadium after they got N20 million from APC.
“We Indigbos of Lagos State have adopted all APC candidate from A to Z and we shall vote for them. We did not adopt any PDP candidate, we are not politicians, but we believe that whatever we tell our people to do, they will do it because we are their leaders and thus, we speak for our people and they believe us.
“We call on all Igbos in Lagos to vote for APC. Lagos is working and we don’t want” strangers, saying “we are supporting Ambode and all other APC candidates. At the national level, we are endorsing Buhari,” Dimgba stated.
At the meeting were the APC House of Representatives member, Hon. James Faleke and the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Joe Igbokwe who brokered the endorsement.
