The inquiry tribunal on Lagos state July 4, 2014 restiveness at Onipanu along Ikorodu road formally began sitting and investigations Monday into the crisis which was prompted by killing of a military personnel.
The state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye, at the formal take off of the three – man tribunal in Alausa informed that the reason for the fact finding body was to unravel the cause of the uprising and how to check the future occurrence.
Ipaye who spoke through the Public Relations Officer in the State Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Bola Akingbade, said the tribunal has task to get to the root of the crisis and report back to the government.
In his remarks, Chairman of the tribunal, retired Justice Ebenezer Adebajo, assured the State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), all parties in the mayhem as well as the general public that the tribunal would speed up its task, ensure fairness in its findings and report.
Justice Babatope clarified the tribunal was not out to witch hunt anybody or arrive at a predetermined conclusion, while urging members of the public who have information that could assist it, to come forward without hesitation.
It would be recalled the tribunal was sworn in by Governor Fashola on July 21, 2014.
