Ladoja Lacks Depth to Appreciate Modern Civil Service – Oyo APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State chapter, has said that former Governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, lacked the intellectual depth to appreciate or administer a modern civil service.
In its words, there is thus no government, in the history of the state that had built the institution of the civil service as the party-led government.
It was reacting to an allegation by the Accord Party that the state government had destroyed the civil service by its sack of some Permanent Secretaries.
According to a statement issued by the APC Interim Publicity Secretary in the state, Honourable Dauda Kolawole, said the Abiola Ajimobi-led government was concentrating on rebuilding the institution of the civil service which it said had long been bastardized by previous governments before it, stating that in the process, it could not but purge the service of long-held pollution.
In the statement, “Ajimobi inherited accumulated dregs and dirt in all ramifications in the state. From Alao-Akala’s debasement of the values of the civil service, to Ladoja’s lack of mental depth to understand the rudiments of the service, it was a civil service that needed purification and restructuring.
“Our concentration was on rebuilding the institution of the civil service and restoring the dignity of an average civil servant in himself as the engine room of governmental development and not as a lap-dog to politicians in power.”
The APC said that in the history of civil service in Oyo State, no government had trained as much civil servants within and outside the country as the present APC-led government.
“We have trained 12,211 teaching and non-teaching staff of secondary schools, promoted 1,714 civil servants from all cadres in 2012 alone, gave training and capacity building to over 13,000 civil and public servants, dedicated 10 out of the 100 43-seater buses we procured to civil servants which convey them free to and fro work, among others. These all can be cross-checked. We challenge Ladoja to tell the whole world what he did for civil servants in his barren and unimpressive rule of our state,” the APC said.
The party said that it was public knowledge that the Ajimobi-led government abhorred most of the vices of the workplace that its predecessors encouraged, all in the name of playing politics with the future of the state.
“Ajimobi believes that government should not play politics with the future of its people. He has raised the mental disposition of the civil service and civil servants by restoring their dignity which was devalued by the Ladojas and Akalas. It is apparent that in the quest to reposition the service, accumulated dirt of the past would have to give way for a new dawn in the foremost civil service in Nigeria that produced the Tejumade Alakijas,” the APC said.
