KWSG Assures Kwara Express Workers on Job Security
Latest Headlines, News From The State Thursday, May 21st, 2015The Kwara State Government has assured employees of the Kwara State Transport Corporation, otherwise known as Kwara Express, that no one will lose their job on account of the repeal of the law establishing the corporation by the Kwara State House of Assembly.
Giving the assurance in statement today in Ilorin, the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed said the repeal was intended to pave way for the take over the operations of the corporation by Harmony Holdings Limited, which was established to supervise companies fully or partly owned by the state government.
Governor Ahmed said Harmony Holdings had already turned around the fortunes of Kwara Express with the injection of additional funds and innovative approach to management since the it was mandated to supervise the corporation.
Stressing that his administration remains committed to the welfare of workers and youth empowerment, Governor Ahmed said government will not take action that will jeopardise the welfare of workers and indeed all citizens.
He said that when signed into law, the bill will increase the efficiency of Kwara Express under Harmony Holdings Limited which is a holding company fully owned by the Kwara State government and is equally committed to the welfare of workers under its purview.
Governor Ahmed therefore allayed any fears of job cuts at Kwara Express or any other government-owned entity, adding that the well-being of citizens remains a top priority of his administration.
