Kwara, Ogun Partner On Health Care
Latest Headlines, News Wednesday, September 24th, 2014The Kwara and Ogun States Governments are to create an interface on health services at the primary level to enhance health care delivery services in the two states.
The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed disclosed this in Ilorin while receiving a delegation from Ogun State Health sector, led by the State Commissioner for Health, Doctor Ola-Ogun Soyinka who was in the state to under study the Community Health Insurance Scheme in the state.
Governor Ahmed explained that constant engagements of Health officials from the two states on primary healthcare delivery would improve accessibility through sharing of relevant information.
The governor promised that the visit would be strengthened into a broader platform for comparism of success stories, challenges and new ways of creating funding windows to enable the states expand the scheme.
Governor Ahmed who emphasised that the strength of any nation lies on its ability to provide quality healthcare delivery to the people noted that the enrolment into the scheme had made it expedient for the state government to expand the scheme to enable more people access healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
Earlier, the leader of Ogun State delegation and Commissioner for Health, Dor Ola-Ogun Soyinka had disclosed that the Health ministry officials and lawmakers were in the state to understudy the State Community Health Insurance Scheme which he said its pilot scheme was launched in April, this year in five local government areas of Ogun State.
Dr Soyinka, who identified Kwara State Community Health Insurance scheme as one of the foremost health schemes in Nigeria, commended Governor Ahmed for his achievements in the areas of health particularly, the expansion of Community Health Insurance Scheme in the rural areas.
