Kwara Commences Sale Of Agro Inputs To Farmers At Subsidized Rate

Kwara State government on Tuesday flagged off the sale and distribution of Cocoa agro inputs to farmers in the state at subsidized.
The Kwara State Deputy Governor, Elder Peter Kishira in his address at the occasion said the sale and distribution of Cocoa agro inputs will boost agriculture and stimulate economic growth and reduce unemployment among the teaming youths of the state.
Solo pumps, fermentation box and knapsack sprayers were flagged off at a subsidized rates of N3,000; N5,000 and N10,000 respectively at the event.
Kishira stated that the sale and distribution of agro inputs is inline with the strategic objectives of enhancing growth in the non-oil sector to achieve increased food security, poverty alleviation and employment creation to improve the living conditions for farmers in the state.
He reiterated commitment of governor Abdulfatai led administration to accord agriculture the attention it deserves.
Kwara State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources,Barrister Kayode Towoju in his opening remark urged farmers in the state to take and accept government’s efforts seriously and should always plan ahead considering the participation of cocoa farmers in the cocoa Growth Enhancement Suppor (GES) 2013 which was not encouraging.
The representative of the Cocoa Farmers Association of Nigeria, Deacon Isaac Oyetayo thanked the state government for the kind gesture to cocoa farmers in the state.
