Featured, Latest Headlines, News From The State Thursday, December 10th, 2015Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mommoh Jimoh Lawal has been impeached.
Lawal was sacked Thursday alongside with his Deputy. The former North central State first Lawmaker was shown the way out over alleged incompetence and for being too harsh.
The Speaker, who is of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was impeached with his Principal Officers by 17 out of 25 members of the legislative chamber.
The House has subsequently elected Hon. Godwin Osiyi also of the PDP as the new Speaker. Similarly, Hon. John Abah and Linus Enenche of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have been elected the new Deputy Speaker and Minority Leader respectively.
