The Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura on Thursday slammed members of the outlawed Ombatse militia organization that reportedly killed many policemen in May adding that all the perpetrators and their sponsors must face justice.
The governor also denied media reports that said he was rooting for amnesty for the militia, stressing that he never at no time canvassed for amnesty for the Ombatse militias.
“It is very unfair on me and my government for any media to insinuate the fact that my government is rooting the idea of amnesty.
“Our intention to go to the root of this problem to be able to identify who are the culprits, sponsors and financiers, we have gone all the way to constitute a Judicial Commission of Enquiry so that we can bring to book the perpetrators” he explained
Speaking to Journalists in Abuja over the issue, Governor Al-Makura further insisted that “these criminals must be fished out and they must now be left unpunished. We are waiting for the commission of enquiry to finalize its sittings. I will like to assure all and sundry that this government is focused and consistent on our search for peace and justice; justice must be done for people who have been offended.”
