Kano Speaker, Other Principal Officers Under Investigation For N25B Fraud -EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that the Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Gambo Sallau and other principal officers of the house are under investigation for alleged misappropriation of N25billion.
As result of this, the commission said “the Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Gambo Sallau, the clerk and nine others persons on Tuesday morning responded to its invitation.”
EFCC further explained that the speaker was invited sequel to a petition by some prominent indigenes of the state, alleged that the supplementary appropriation was to be backdated and used as smokescreen to cover some unauthorized usage of state’s funds.
“The eleven persons have been moved to Abuja, where they are expected to make statement before a team of investigators at the Commission’s head office,” stated disclosed
Meanwhile, Kano state government has dismissed the allegation saying the EFFC is acting on the instruction from the above following the Lawmakers recent defection with the governor to the to the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC).
