The annual traditional Durbar to commemorate the Eid-el-Kabir celebration was cancelled in Kano due to the health condition of Alhaji Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano.
The District Head of Dala, Alhaji Aminu Bayero of Kano Emirate Council, while briefing journalists announced the cancellation of all traditional activities planned for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration where traditional Sallah activities like Hawan Sallah, Hawan Daushe, Hawan Nasarawa and Hawan Dorayi are observed.
On Tuesday, the Emir observed the traditional Eid prayer on a wheel chair.
The district head warned that anyone who flouted the order to ride on horses would be arrested and prosecuted.
The district head also noted that the riding of horses in Kano Metropolis by youths had been outlawed.
The decision, he said, was taken because of the manner some of the youths rode the horses, which had endangered lives of the masses, particularly children.
Aminu said that the Emirate would not fold its arms and allow such horse riders to continue to constitute a nuisance in the city.
