KAI Prosecutes 82 Violators Of Monthly Sanitation Law
Latest Headlines, News Monday, November 30th, 2015No fewer than 82 persons were on Saturday arrested and prosecuted by officials of Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) Brigade for violating the State Environmental Sanitation Laws.
Some of the offenders were arrested at Ojota, former Ikeja Toll Gate, Oshodi, Agege, Ojodu Berger, Mile 21, Ketu, Mile 12 among others between the hours of 7.00a.m and 10.00am.
Those arrested were arraigned before Ogba Chief Magistrate Court on a one – count charge of violating the State Environmental Sanitation Laws, an offence punishable under section 18 (1) of the Environmental Sanitation Laws, cap 5, Vol. 2 Laws of Lagos State.
They all pleaded guilty to the charge.
In his judgement, Magistrate Ogundare sentenced each of the accused person to six-hours community service with option of ₦3,000 fine.
Speaking on the development, the KAI Administrator, Mr. Deji Badejo stated that the arrest was to serve as a deterrent to those who were in the habit of flouting the Environmental Sanitation Law.
He explained that in the past, the Brigade usually release offenders after educating them on the implication of their action, but has now resorted to prosecuting offenders when it observed a growing number of offenders in the past two months.
The Administrator urged Lagosians to obey the Environmental Sanitation Law of the State by participating in the exercise monthly.
