Judge Withdraws From Abba Moro, Others Alleged NIS Employment Scam Suit

ABUJA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Judge handling the alleged Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) employment scandal against the immediate past Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro has withdrawn from the case.
Justice Anwuri Chikere of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, who at the last hearing in February, adjourned hearing proper till today, on the over N675 Million suit announced the withdrawal, as well as indicated that she would transfer the case file to the Chief Judge, for reassignment to another Judge.
However, Justice Chikere did not disclose the reason for her decision.
Moro was co-accused by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in the employment scam with some staff of the Federal Ministry of Interior including, a former Director, Mrs. Anastasia Daniel-Nwobia; Mr. Felix .O Alayebami, as well as a private firm, Drexel Tech Nigeria Limited.
The former Minister and others are standing trial on 11 count charge including alleged defrauding a total of 675, 675 applicants, each paying N1000, as application processing fee, which amounted to sum of N675,675,000.
Recall there was a stampede at the Abuja national stadium on March 15, 2014 during the recruitment exercise in which nine job seekers lost their lives.
