Jonathan Donates N10 Billion to Victim Support Fund; Reaffirms Insurgents Will Be Crushed
Featured, Latest Headlines, National News, News Friday, August 1st, 2014President Goodluck Jonathan has given assurance that the Federal Government will not be discouraged to sustain the battle against terrorism despite the recurring attacks in some parts of the country.
The President gave the assurance last night during the Victims Support Fund raising dinner in Abuja.
Mr. President asserted that in the face of bloody invasion in the North Eastern and other parts of the North, FG would not result to lamentation option over the raging war, rather would continue to take necessary measures and actions to confront the insurgents and ensure their activities were brought to halt.
The fund according to him, was to rehabilitate the victims of insurgency within the last five years. Mr. President similarly reaffirmed that government was doing everything within her capacity to ensure over 200 abducted Chibok secondary school girls in Borno State were rescued safely and returned to their families alive.
Mr. President donated on his behalf and Federal Government sum of N10 billion. Members of the Victims Support Fund Committee including Messrs Jim Ovia, Wale Tinubu, Authur Eze, Tony Elumelu, Mohammed Ndimi, Dahiru Mangal as well as Mrs Folorunso Alakija donated at the dinner. Other donours included Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Chief Mike Adenuga among others.
President Jonathan inaugurated the committee in FCT about two weeks ago, with Former Minister of Defence, General Theophillos Danjuma as the Chairman.
