(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Two inmates of the federal prisons Enugu have escaped in a reported jail break that occurred in the early hours Saturday.
African Examiner gathered that the two notorious criminals masterminded the jail break.
However, there were conflicting reports as at the time of filing this report whether the escaped inmates have been re-arrested or not.
Following the incident, heavy security has been beefed up around the prisons located at Old Park area of Enugu metropolis.
While the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Enugu Prisons, Monday Emeka refused to pick several calls put across to him, some sources within the prison who craved anonymity said the incident took place.
Though details of the incident were still sketchy as at Saturday’s night, the development has thrown residents of Enugu into fear and apprehension.
It would be recalled that similar incident took place at Nsukka prisons, Enugu, in August 2016, during which a total of 15 inmates reportedly scaled the jail wall and escaped.
