Israel – Palestine Offensives Death Toll Hits 800 As Ceasefire Efforts Intensify
Latest Headlines, News Friday, July 25th, 2014Initiatives on ceasefire continue amidst shelling and airstrikes by the Israelis army and firing of rockets by the Hamas militants in the over three weeks clash. Over 800 Palestinians and 34 Israelis have been killed in the ensuing offensives.
The Israel’s security cabinet is billed to be involved in a mediation plan, which is supported by the United States (US) Secretary of State, Mr. John Kerry who arrived Cairo, the Egyptian capital late Thursday.
The latest offensives indicated that not less than 15 people died at a UN-run school shelter on Thursday, a development that elicited outrage from Palestinians and the UN, Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon who maintained that the killing was “totally unacceptable”.
The tragic video footage of how a Palestinian one-year-old boy was killed by the strikes and buried showed how the mourners wept profusely on the death of the toddler.
Kerry is expected to leave Cairo today whether the truce which is thought to include provision for a seven-day humanitarian pause in hostilities is reached or not.
