Islamic State (IS) Accepts Boko Haram’s Allegiance Pledge
Featured, Latest Headlines Friday, March 13th, 2015By Ayo Balogun, African Examiner – The Islamic State (IS) may have accepted the allegiance pledge of the Nigeria’s insurgent group, Boko Haram.
According to an audiotape made available to international media, an IS spokesman says the aim of establishing a caliphate has now been expanded to West Africa.
“We announce to you to the good news of the expansion of the caliphate to West Africa because the caliph has accepted the allegiance of our brothers of the Sunni group for preaching and the jihad.” a man who describes himself as IS spokesman Mohammed al-Adnani said in the tape.
Last week, the Nigeria’s Boko Haram group had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) group also in an audiotape.
“We announce our allegiance to the Caliph of the Muslims, Ibrahim ibn Awad ibn Ibrahim al-Husseini al-Qurashi,” said the voice on the message,
Nigerian government has since dismissed the allegiance pledge of the Boko Haram saying it lacks evidence and credibility.
