Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Release 10 Detained US Sailors

About 24 hours after, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards have released 10 United States (US) sailors who were being held for entering the Arab Nation territorial waters.

The state television Wednesday confirmed the development

US officials confirmed to the Reuters news agency that the sailors were detained Tuesday after one of their two vessels broke down during a training mission.

A statement read on state media said the group was released into international waters after apologizing.

It is reasoned that this happened at a sensitive time, as the US and Iran try to implement deal on Iran’s nuclear activities.

Local media reports said the incursion was “unintentional”, according to a statement by the Revolutionary Guards.
The Naval Commander of the Guards, General Ali Fadavi, indicated that investigations have proved that navigational failure was responsible for the situation.

Ali Fadavi, replied a State Television, saying: “We have concluded that passage of Americans in our territorial waters was not a hostile passage or for espionage or similar acts”.
