Boko Haram: Presidency Commends US For Deploying Military Personnel To Fight Terrorists
Latest Headlines, National News, News Thursday, October 15th, 2015The Presidency has again commended the United States (US) on its support to Nigeria in the war against Boko Haram insurgents.
While speaking on telephone interview with AFP Thursday, Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu said “The United States has given the pledge to support the fight against Boko Haram in Nigeria and in the region,”
The Presidential aide hailed the US decision to deploy 300 military personnel to Cameroon to help the regional fight against Boko Haram, despite requesting for more direct help from the country.
Shehu maintained that the deployment was a “welcome development” indicating the military said it demonstrated cooperation needed against the terrorists.
Already, the US President Barack Obama today said 90 personnel had already been sent and the full contingent would conduct intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations in Nigeria.
