The Rivers state government has confirmed discharge from the isolation centre, Oduoha – Emohua, sister to the first state Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) casualty, Dr. Ike Enemuo.
The late Physician sibling, Chinyere’s discharge and clean bill heath was given Monday morning by the state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sampson Parker, at a press briefing with the journalists in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
Chinyere had earlier on Monday been certified as fully recovered by the Health Minister, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu.
The survivor is a secondary contact, having heard contact with her late brother who secretly treated in Port Harcourt an ECOWAS envoy that had contact with the country’s first and index case, Patrick Sawyer.
Nigeria presently has one confirmed case of Ebola virus, while about 500 suspected infected victims are under surveillance both in Lagos and the garden city.
