INEC to Commence Distribution of Permanent Voters Card in Plateau

As the 2015 election gets closer, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is to begin distribution of permanent voters’ cards and conduct of continuous voter registration exercise Friday, November, 7th, 2014, across Plateau State.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Plateau State, Hon Habu Zarma who gave the indication in Jos Tuesday, said the distribution of permanent voters’ cards is to start on Friday and end on Sunday November 9, while the continuous voter registration will commence on November 12 and end on November 17.
Zarma who spoke while addressing a stakeholder’s forum on the electoral exercises, explained that after the 2011 general elections, the register of voters had undergone several processes to improve its quality and that a credible register of voters is the bedrock of a credible election.
He added that, “after the cleanup of the register of voters, the commission decided to issue permanent voters’ cards to voters who have successfully passed through the cleanup process”.
