BALTIMORE, MD, (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – President Mohammadu Buhari has again said his government is not out to witch-hunt anybody adding that people should only fear the consequences of their wrong actions.
Addressing the nation on the occasion of her 55th year independent anniversary, Buhari reiterated that neither he nor his administration is after anybody maintaining that it was only those who have something to hide that have reason to be scared.
He acknowledged moderate improvements in power and petroleum products supply, adding that he has since ordered total audit of revenue generating agencies and parastatals, such as: NNPC, Customs, CBN, NPA, FIRS and others “for better service delivery”.
On Boko Haram, the president believes the military is winning the battle even as he chastised the insurgents for attacking IDPs and other vulnerable targets describing it as act of cowardice and a sign that they are losing the fight.
Again, President Buhari commended his predecessor and the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan for allowing democracy to thrive in Nigeria. The President specifically hailed Jonathan for accepting defeat in the last Presidential election, thus paving the way for a peaceful, smooth and successful transition from one ruling party to another.
He also noted that to bring about the promised change by his government and his party, Nigerians must change their “lawless habits” in all their endeavors—offices, schools, hostels, roads, motor parks as well as homes.
